Hello,
I am a student of psychology and the curriculum of my career could be divided into three parts: basic cycle, specialization cycle and final year.
In the basic cycle we studied introductory subjects to the career such as philosophy, anthropology, sociology, quantitative methodology, among others, which aim to make known the epistemological and disciplinary influences that allowed the emergence of psychology in the context of modernity, as a science whose object of study, in general, is the human psyche and the behavior of individuals.
In this sense, the basic cycle provides us tools that allow us to understand the field of action of psychology. This cycle ends in the second year. During the third year begin the specialization cycle , in this cycle the subjects aims to provide a look at the different lines of psychology taught at the University of Chile, such as clinical, labor, legal and social-community psychology. Finally, a long of fifth year start the thesis, practice, and diploma course with the aim of focusing more specifically on any of the areas of psychology named previously
One of the main difficulties that can be identified in this program is the imbalance in terms of the relevance of certain lines within the career, for example, the experimental line is an area that can be promotes little and that has a condition of being a little "useful" area for psychology. On the other hand, the teaching methods, as in other careers, are still not very inclusive and focused on the achieve of the measurable objectives through qualifications.
Hello there! I study psychology too and I agree with you about the relevance of certains lines in the career, I think this is very weird. See you around, bye bye!
